Field Trip to the Apple Store!!  :)
We were lucky to have Apple Trainers give us a workshop on Final Cut Pro, which is the editing software we use to make videos for the morning show and other things at school.  It was a great day and we learned so much!  

Our Community Problem Solvers Team have worked on the serious issue of declining honey-bee populations and the far reaching implications of this problem.  They placed 1st in the middle division at our Future Problem Solvers State competition and will travel to our International Competition in June.  
They have built a bee-box and met with several local experts in gardening and bees.  The bees have arrived and the team is busy with their preparations! 

We had visitors from The Hale Early Education Center this week!  They said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang our national anthem at the beginning of our live morning show production!  It was so much fun to have them with us and we are glad they could join us.  Click below for more pictures. :)

The Challenge and Enrichment Program is sponsoring a trip to The New England Folk Festival in Mansfield, MA  on Saturday, April 22nd!
It is a day full of music, dancing, crafts, stories and yummy food from all around the world.  
The trip is open to all Coventry students and their families. Click below for more info and a registration form.

Some of our 7th graders have have been working on 3D printed prosthetic hands over the past year and they have learned a lot.  They participated in a student run booth at the CABE/CAPSS Conference for superintendents and board of education members from all over the state of Connecticut.  They got to talk about their experiences with 3D printing and how they are using it to help others.  Mr. Jeff Spivey started the program while Ms. Boates will begin to take over.  They are both very proud of these students and can't wait to help more students in our Coventry community in making a difference for others around the world.

We are so proud to announce that Kendall Schenck was awarded an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. for the poem she submitted to the Paralyzed Veterans of America this year!  She was invited to the Veterans Day National Ceremony and then presented her grand prize winning poem at the reception that followed.  If you would like to read Kendall's poem and others like hers, they are posted on the Paralyzed Veterans of America site.  http://www.pva.org/posterpoem

Last Thursday, November 10th, the students of CNH honored our country's veterans in an assembly that featured The POW/MIA Table and an Operation Desert Wars mural dedication.  Our guest speaker, Sergeant Major Jamie DePaola was encouraging in continuing our tradition of honoring veterans along with giving us other opportunities for us to make a difference.  We thank her for being with us! 

Mrs. Page, Mrs. Glowacki, Mrs. Sposato and Mrs. de Sousa joined us on air last Tuesday, Nov. 1 to help us celebrate (and explain) Dia de los Muertos!  (The Day of the Dead)

Some of our 7th graders got to participate in a question and answer session with a few guest teachers from another district!  They were very helpful and had good input for the teachers that are trying to incorporate 3D printing into their school curriculum.  Mr. Spivey was the host and took them through everything they needed to know.
